Lieutenant Governor Reviews Delhi Police's Poll Conduct | Delhi News
NEW DELHI: Lieutenant governor Anil Baijal directed Delhi Police to focus on separating teams of investigation from law and order during a crime review meeting with senior police officers.
The meeting, focused on analysing the best practices from the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, was attended by police commissioner Amulya Patnaik and other senior officials.
During the meeting, the LG asked the police department to maximize its use of technology for policing and take the best practices used in the elections preparations as SOP. Directing focus on the involvement of criminals who have recently come out of jail, Baijal directed that activities of jail releases be not only monitored, but also shared with jail authorities for better monitoring.
The LG was briefed about the decrease in various crime heads and an overall reduction of 10% compared to last year.
Delhi Police also claimed that they have 36,354 registered senior citizens with them and about 2.26 lakhs visits have been made to them, resulting in the decline in heinous crimes against senior citizens by around 22% till May 31.
Baijal instructed to explore the possibilities of increasing enrolment of senior citizens to keep an eye on their safety.
